WEEKLY YOGA CLASSES

I teach flow and sports yoga in public classes, privately in local hotels, gyms, studio and to sports clubs as well as 1:1. You will be pleasantly surprised how much a regular targeted yoga session will speed up your recovery from training and re-balance your body and mind. Scroll down to see more information on the types of yoga I teach, what to expect in a class and my timetable, and where to book. If you're interested in 1:1 or private group classes for your triathlon or running club then please drop me an email.

FLOW YOGA

Flow yoga is a style which is characterised by stringing postures together and moving from one to another in one fluid motion, using your breath and the concentration of the mind.  This is how we intentionally connect mind and body and allows you to focus on what your body is doing, simultaneously quieting the mind. It offers a variety of postures but usually includes breath work, sun salutations, standing, balancing and seated postures with a final relaxation.

Skill level: Sometimes dynamic and challenging but suitable for all levels of practitioner.

YOGA FOR SPORTS

Inspired by yoga, but adapted for sport and competition – especially for runners, cyclists and triathletes. A full-body flexibility and functional movement session with varied exercises that especially target the typical tight areas of the body. No experience necessary. Lengthening and stretching the body whilst relaxing the mind to help undo the tightness that training and life can create.

Skill level: Designed specifically for athletes. If you’re in an endurance sport this is for you.

1:1 CLASSES

If you’re feeling like you want to take your training to the next level, or you would appreciate some high-level, more personalised support, then click below to find out more about working with me 1:1 and adding this into your regime. This WILL completely change the way you think about stretching, flexibility, and mobility training and is the perfect option if you need to balance training, recovery, and life responsibilities.

Skill level: I work 1:1 with yoga practitioners along with athletes of all experience levels. If you’re not sure if this is a good fit for you, get in touch and we can figure it out.

General Class information

It’s important to understand that while yoga is, in fact, extremely restorative, it will challenge you physically and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Yoga is not a competitive activity, so you do not need to worry about being a “beginner” if you have never done this before or if you are using it to improve your competition and racing.

EQUIPMENT

For in-studio classes, please bring your own equipment. For online classes, you will need a mat, a strap and perhaps a blanket or cushion.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A CLASS

A general full-body session with varied exercises, focusing on movement, stretches, warm ups and active recovery, with options and adaptations/modifications so open to all. No experience necessary.

  • Relaxation & Breathing - classes start with breathing drills to relax the body and mind and switch on your “rest & digest” nervous system to ensure you’re de-stressed before we begin lengthening and stretching.

  • Spinal flows -  take the spine through all its basic movements, a healthy well moving spine as the central line of the body is essential to establishing good movement patterns and reduce compensations that may radiate out into your limbs.

  • Warm up - the body using bigger movements and more muscles to raise the heart rate and temperature.

  • Stability & Standing - we then move on to more complex stability, standing exercises that work against gravity, challenging your body’s ROM, balance and promoting optimal movement patterns.

  • Flexibility - we’ll work on longer holds, gliding the muscles through stretches that are appropriate and relevant for your body and sport.

  • Relaxation - to close the class, let the body digest the work.
